NAPA: "Ports are ready to relaunch the Northern Adriatic strategy".
North Adriatic Sea Port Authority was confirmed President of the Association

Venice, 16 November-

NAPA’s first post-Covid 19 general assembly took place some days ago at North Adriatic Sea Port Authority’ headquarters in Venice. NAPA is the North Adriatic Ports Association which brings together the Ports of Venice and Chioggia, the Port of Trieste and Monfalcone, the Port of Ravenna, the Slovenian Port of Koper and the Croatian Port of Rijeka. Until the end of the year the association will be chaired and coordinated by North Adriatic Sea Port Authority.

Ahead of NAPA meeting, the European Coordinator of the Baltic-Adriatic TEN-T Corridor Ms. Anne Jensen had visited the area, confirming the European Commission’s renewed interest in the Northern Adriatic port and logistics system. Speaking to Veneto’s regional authorities, Ms. Jensen praised the dynamism of the Veneto Port System – in fact a key element of the wider integrated logistics system, which includes the "core" airport of Venice and the "core" freight villages of Padua and Verona.

NAPA representatives have confirmed the willingness of member ports to keep up and strengthen their mutual commitment towards cooperation and international collaboration with the goal of asserting the importance of strategies and common projects above all in Europe, in the light of the changed economic conditions and the complexities experienced by the port ecosystems over the last two years.

During the meeting, the NAPA ports have welcomed the proposal of North Adriatic Sea Port Authority President to have Venice acting as President of the association also during the first semester of 2022, to compensate for the slowdown of proceedings caused by the pandemic.

North Adriatic Sea Port Authority President Fulvio Lino Di Blasio, Secretary General Antonella Scardino and the delegates of the Port Authority of the Central-Northern Adriatic Sea, the Port Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, the Ports of Rijeka and Koper have agreed on the importance of starting new common projects in the fields of environmental sustainability and ecological transition, energy policies, innovation, intermodality, training and research while consolidating other ongoing projects focusing on logistics and infrastructure.
