The ILO’s flagship report on the world of work shows, for the first time, that quality jobs can drive sustained growth in emerging and developing countries.
GENEVA (ILO News) –Countries that invested the most in quality jobs from the early 2000s grew nearly one percentage point faster every year since 2007 than other developing and emerging economies, says a new ILO report. This helped cushion the impact of the global crisis which erupted in 2008.
Report finds illegal gain from forced labour of about 21 million people amounts to three times more than prior estimates.
According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) report in 2013, China technically has the world's largest recoverable shale gas resources with resources amounting to as much as the USA and Canada combined. This was a notable change compared to the 2011 report and could potentially have a huge impact on the future of the country's energy, significantly reducing its dependence on imported energy.
Africa's ports sectors have many projects underway and more in the pipeline, thanks to growing trade and investment. Imports and exports are increasing and as such, increased capacity is required.
